Steven Ray Buxton was born on September 8, 1961 in Denver, Colorado to Tom Ray and Shirley Ann (Aylett) Buxton. When Steve was four years of age, the family moved to Woodward. He attended Woodward schools and graduated from Woodward High School in 1979. Steve became a Certified Personal Fitness Instructor in 1992. He worked for his parents at their Check Collect business until the mid 1990's and then went to work for himself as a Fitness Instructor. By the time Steve was 35 years of age he went to work as a Truck Driver for various different companies through the years.
Steve was united in marriage to Shawna Danielle Gibson on October 15, 1993 at the First Baptist Church in Woodward, Oklahoma. They were blessed with two children, Damon Ray and Whitney Danielle. They made their first home between Woodward and Fargo before moving to Cheyenne Drive in Woodward in 1996. The tornado took their home in April of 2012 so they moved to 3rd street and have lived there since that time.
Steve grew up in the First Baptist Church and later was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He loved lifting weights, riding motorcycles with his son, fishing with his daughter, camping with the family and driving a truck.
Steve always was willing to share a laugh, even at his own expense. He loved his family above all and he would do anything for his wife and kids.
He is survived by his wife Shawna Buxton of the home; one son, Damon Buxton of the home; daughter Whitney Buxton of the home; his parents, Tom and Shirley Buxton of Woodward; one sister, Kathy Douglas and husband Scott of Wichita, Kansas and her three children, Jesse, Casey, and Jerrod; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Wayne and Diane Gibson of Woodward; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tiffani Gibson, Tara Jensen, Chadrin Gibson and Danica Koch and her husband Jason; other relatives and many friends.
