Lonnie Burns, 82 year old Woodward resident, died Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2020 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Seth Cash officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.
Lonnie Edward Burns was born on March 22, 1938 in Gentry, Arkansas to Everett Leslie and Anna May (Taylor) Burns. He grew up in Watts, Oklahoma and attended school there. Lonnie was united in marriage to Virginia Donahue on January 16, 1961 in Decatur, Arkansas. They made their first home in Decatur before moving to Sulphur Springs, Moscow, Kansas, Elkhart, Kansas and Woodward. Lonnie had different jobs as a Truck Driver, Mechanic but mostly he was a farmer.
He loved being with his family and helping and giving to his loved ones. Lonnie enjoyed trains, camping, and fishing. Lonnie loved to tease his grandchildren all the time. He was onery and will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Virginia Burns of the home; one son, Lonnie Burns; one daughter Anna Aranda and husband Jr.; six grandchildren: Jessica, Alan, Nikki, April, Craig, Larissa; 10 great-grandchildren: Benji, Johanna, James, Nathan, Hailee, Jaxon, Harper, Emmalyn, Kannon, and Bo; one great-grandchild, Isabella; other relatives and many friends.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents Everett and Anna Burns, three brothers, Bob, Leslie, Gene six sisters, Lola, Irma, Dorothy, Lorrene, Bonnie, Audrey, a son Andy and grandson Jayden.
Memorial contributions may be made to the WOOF Pet Rescue with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
