Funeral: 10:00 AM Friday, October 2nd, 2015 - Woodward Free Will Baptist Church

Interment: Friday, October 2nd, 2015 - Elmwood Cemetery

Loren T. “Brownie” Brown Sr., 68 year old Woodward resident, died Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at his home in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Woodward Free Will Baptist Church with Dr. Allen Mabra and Reverend Eugene Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery with the United States Navy providing military graveside rites.

Loren Thomas Brown was born on February 8, 1947 to Leighton Clark and Rosalie Bernice (Warren) Brown in Stockton, Kansas. He attended school in Stockton, Kansas and graduated from Stockton High School. Brownie joined the United States Navy in 1966 and served his country during the Vietnam War. He received one Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and served on the USS Valley Forge. He was honorably discharged on April 16, 1968.

He was united in marriage to Nellie Olsen in 1971. They made their home in Liberal, Kansas before moving to Alva, Oklahoma. To this union was born a son, Loren Thomas Jr. and a daughter Korena Rae. He worked for Panhandle Eastern for 24 years as a Supervisor for Compressor and Pipeline. He lived in Kansas and Oklahoma during this time.

He was united in marriage to Judy Pedigo in September of 1995 and they made their home in Woodward. He went to work for Woodward Ace Hardware in 2007 and had recently retired from there.

Survivors include his wife Judy of the home; one son Loren Thomas Jr. and wife Juliet of McKinney, Texas; one daughter Korena Edwards and husband Tom of Edmond; four grandchildren, Koby Obleniss, Kye Obleniss, Allyson Brown, Ashley Brown; one brother-in-law, Marvin Jackson of Stockton, Kansas; one sister-in-law, Judy Helm of Goodland, Kansas; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Bob Brown and one sister Jeanne Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the Pregnancy Center with the funeral home accepting the contributions on behalf of the family.
