Laura Brown, 87 year old former Woodward resident, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023 in Tulsa. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 21, 2023 in the First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Laura Mae (Cooper) Brown was born on March 23, 1935 in Alamo, Texas to Paul Cutler and Edna Paulina (Kochert) Cooper. Laura grew up in Cimarron County and attended and graduated from Keyes High School. She was united in marriage to Hayner Dwight Brown on May 26, 1963 in Keyes, Oklahoma. They made their home in Enid before moving to Liberal, Kansas, Midwest City and later settling in Woodward. Laura worked as a grocery clerk and was a banking book keeper.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Laura enjoyed sewing and needle work and her family meant the world to her. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the O.H.C.E.
She is survived by one son, Dempsey Brown and wife Shelly; one daughter Desha (Brown) Knapp and husband Brian; one grandchild: Terra Jones; other relatives and friends.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Hayner Brown on March 21, 2017.
