Laura Brittain, 87 year old Weatherford resident, formerly of Woodward, died Monday, January 30, 2017 in Weatherford. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, February 3, 2017 in the First Assembly of God Church in Woodward. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Laura Louise (Thrasher) Brittain was born March 5, 1929 in San Jon, New Mexico to John Richard and Maude May (Shaverbush) Thrasher. Laura grew up in San Jon, New Mexico and attended country school and high school in Porter, New Mexico. She was united in marriage to James Chester Brittain on January 3, 1946 in San Jon, New Mexico. They made their home in Tucumcari, New Mexico and were blessed with three children, Larry, Barbara, and Kenneth. The family later moved to Woodward, Oklahoma.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. Laura enjoyed painting, sewing, and cooking for her family. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by one son, Larry J. Brittain and wife Martha of Fargo; one daughter, Barbara J. Brittain Trout and husband John of Clinton; daughter-in-law, Sue Brittain of Purcell; five grandchildren, Jim Brittain and wife Sandra, Sherrie Brittain, Jason Brittain and wife Retta, Jared Brittain and wife Casie, Justin Trout; six great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, husband of almost 70 years, James Brittain, one son, Kenneth Brittain, and seven brothers and sisters.
