Maudie Lea Cleveland Bradbury was born on December 16, 1925 to Mary Vernia Elizabeth (White) Cleveland and Willie Carl “Bill” Cleveland at home , 9 miles NW of Gage, OK. She departed this life on April 18, 2014 in Oklahoma City at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 2 days. Maudie grew up on the home place at Gage, where her playmates included her brother, several dogs, horses, cats, birds, a special runt pig, as well as many cousins and other relatives. She attended a country school until 7th grade, when she went to school at Gage, and where she graduated in 1943.

Maudie met and married the love of her life Harold M. “Brad” Bradbury at the Bradbury home in Woodward on November 25, 1948. They embarked on a life of one new adventure after another, including opening the first drive-in restaurant in NW Oklahoma, where she did the cooking and he did the car-hopping. After spending several years in Norman where Brad went to college, they raised two daughters, Jennifer Lea and Kimberly Del in Woodward. Maudie was very involved with the girls’ school activities and became known as a second “mom” to many of their friends, and was known as the best giver of birthday parties in the community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother. Her generous and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew her, and her passing leaves a particular vacuum in the lives of her family. Surviving her are her children Jennifer Wilhm and husband Jeremy, of Norman, and Kimberly Semmel and husband Russell, of Moore. Missing their grandmother are Tara Lea Robles and husband Daniel, Cole Madison Marston, Devyn Lea Wilhm and Ethan Morgan Wilhm, and honorary grandson, Devin Sunday. Also mourning her passing are nieces Jonna Burks and Rita Poindexter (Dan), nephews Gary Cleveland and Dick Cleveland (Dee) and several great nieces and nephews, as well as many cousins and many friends.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday April 24, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Elmwood Cemetery, Woodward, Oklahoma. Condolences may be made to the family & Memorial Tribute viewed at shawfuneralhome.net. Shaw Funeral Home of Vici
