September 6, 1939 - September 25, 2017

Betty Bowers, 78 year old Woodward resident, died Monday, September 25, 2017 in Enid. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2017 at the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, Lincoln Campus with the Reverend Jason Dirks officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Betty Jo (Tuck) Bowers was born on September 6, 1939 in Stockton, California; she was the daughter of James Franklin “Tobe” and “Bea” Beatrice (Sumpter) Tuck. Betty was reared in Camargo where she attended school, and graduated from Camargo High School. Betty was united in marriage to Kenneth Wesley Bowers on January 7, 1968 in Woodward, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Woodward. Betty worked at Western Heritage and Bosch Electric for a short time. She then began her most important job, which was being a mother to her children.

Betty was devoted to her children and grandchildren. Being a mother and grandmother brought her the most joy in her life. Her and Kenny also enjoyed traveling, camping, and dancing to old time country music.

She was a member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, where she was active in Team Kids and helping with most of the meals prepared at the church. She always looked forward to spending time at church and church fellowship.

Betty is survived by two sons, Jimmy Bowers and Monica Daniel of Woodward; K.J. Bowers and wife Melissa of Vici; two daughters, Pam Goodall and husband Mike; Jana Shipley and husband Tom all of Yukon; 15 grandchildren, Justin Bowers; David Lack; Jennifer Powers; Jon Ledford; Jeremy Ledford; Wesley Bowers, Jr.; Chris Lack; Kyrstin White; Kali Goodall; Britainee Clark; Korbin Bowers; Kelton Bowers; Jacob Daniel; Coltan Daniel; and Mason Daniel; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Janet Bernt and husband Ed of Portland, Oregon; two brothers, Frankie Tuck and wife Pat; Jerry Tuck all of Woodward; other family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenny Bowers; son, Wesley Bowers; grandson, Kolby Bowers; brother, Larry Tuck; and sister, Jean Teufel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Alzheimer Research with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
