Woodward, Okla. — Walt R. Boston, 57 year old Woodward resident, died Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2010 in the First Baptist Church, Woodward, with the Reverend Tony Barros officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Walter Roy Boston was born August 20, 1952 in Tulare, California; he was the son of Charles Arthur and Alpha Mae (Hennigh) Boston. Walt lived in Darrouzett, Texas with his family from 1954 until 1965, the family moved to Woodward and he graduated from Woodward High School in 1970. In 1970, he moved to Weatherford to attend college and in 1973, he moved back to Woodward after attending Southwestern Oklahoma State University for three years. On June 10, 1972, he was married to Eva Louise Tapp in the First Baptist Church on Tenth Street. Walt worked for his Dad with the Boston Roofing in 1974 and for Triad Drilling until 1975. He worked for Hickman Drilling from 1975 until 1988. He began working for Woodward Iodine in 1988.
Walt was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodward. He was also a member of the NRA, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and was Administrator for Midwest Mayhem Server.
Walt loved taking trips with his family, going to Yankee games, cruising with his wife and friends, fishing, hunting, hunting and more hunting. Walt loved his grandchildren, spending time with them tickling and chasing them. He also loved playing games on the computer with them.
Survivors include his wife Eva of the home; two sons, Michael Roy Boston and wife Kelley Ruth of Woodward; Eric Wade Boston and future wife, Kelsey Fike of Woodward; one daughter, Tessa Lynn Lewis and husband Terry Lee of Mooreland; one brother Charles Arthur Boston Jr and wife Bonita of Woodward; three sisters, Vanita Opp and husband James of Oklahoma City, Marydith Kurzel and husband Mark, Cokie Kifer and husband Donnie all of Woodward; seven grandchildren, Mattie Lynn Lewis, Bracen Lee Lewis, Ethan Michael Boston, Dylan Wade Boston, Jaeda Dawn Fike, Kaytlen Gene Boston, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Alpha Boston and one granddaughter, Paden Ruth Boston.
Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Heart Research or the Woodward Chapter of the NRA with the funeral home accepting the memorials.
