Woodward, Okla. — David Best, 64 year old Woodward resident went to be with his Lord on June 6, 2014 in Woodward. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, June 7, 2014 in Elmwood Cemetery with Reverend Jesse Johnson officiating. Interment will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
David Allen Best was born on October 14, 1949 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Roy and Vera (Allen) Best, in the old Woodward Hospital on fourth street. David went to school in Woodward until 1964 when his parents moved to Poteau. He graduated high school in Poteau with the class of 1967. He then attended Poteau Junior College for two years. David enrolled at Oklahoma State University where he earned his Bachelors Degree in Finance.
David worked for Bill White Chevrolet in Stillwater for a short time until he was ready to return to Woodward to work for Long Bell Lumber Company. David also worked for Irwin Auto Company and McKay Ford. He was working for Jim's Auto Salvage at the time of his death.
David liked to shoot pool and particularly enjoyed the Thursday night tournament.
David is survived by his father, Roy Best of Woodward; one brother, Paul Best and wife Audrey of Woodward; one niece, Tamara Bates and husband Daryl; one nephew, Patrick Best and wife Desiree; two great nieces, Nashee Best; Abbygail Bates; one great-nephew, Nash Best; other family and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by mother, Vera; grandparents, Robert and Estella Allen; Oliver and Winnie Best; one brother, Phillip Best; and one nephew Steven Best.
