Woodward, Okla. — Mark R. Benton, 46 year old resident of Mooreland, died Monday, August 22, 2011 at his home in Mooreland. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2011 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel in Woodward. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Mark Randall Benton was born on September 27, 1964 in Amarillo, Texas; he was the son of Winford Owen and Sandra Jane (Smith) Benton. Mark and his family lived in Duncan during his early years. Due to his father working in the oil fields, they lived in several places before moving to Woodward when Mark was 13. Mark begin attending the Mooreland schools his Sophomore year and graduated from Mooreland High School in 1983. Mark was married to Greta Dawn Ames in August of 1988 and they made their home in Mooreland. To this union two children were born, Reagan and Zack. Mark worked for various oilfield companies in the Woodward area.

Mark enjoyed coaching young kids and did so at Kids Inc for several years.

Mark is survived by one daughter, Reagan Benton and one son Zack Benton both of Mooreland; his father, Winford Benton of Winfield, Kansas; one brother Robbie Benton and his wife Shedia of Lockney, Texas; one uncle Randy Benton and his wife Melanie of Winnfield, Kansas; nieces and nephews, Taylor, Tanae, Tavien, Tylee; several other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family with the funeral home accepting the memorials.
