Woodward, Okla. — LaVeda Beck, 73 year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at the Grace Living Center in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010 at the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Anthony Jimenez officiating. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
LaVeda Sue (Crabb) Beck was born on March 25, 1937 in Cox City, Oklahoma to Elmo Franklin and Lucille Beatrice (Hicks) Crabb. She was reared in Cox City and attended school in Cox City and Lindsay. LaVeda was united in marriage to Neal Van Hooser on December 29, 1952. To this union they were blessed with two children, Gary and Brenda.
LaVeda was united in marriage to Harrison McCoy on April 22, 1963. Harrison preceded her in death on September 17, 1985. In 1974, LaVeda moved to Woodward where she worked for the Woodward Fruit of the Loom Factory, United Grocery, Bell Gas Station and Walgreens. LaVeda was united in marriage to Travis Wayne Beck on October 25, 1991. Travis preceded her in death on April 15, 1997.
LaVeda loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always enjoyed going to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities, family gatherings, shopping and playing the machines at the casino.
She is survived by her son Gary Van Hooser and wife Svetlana; one daughter Brenda Cartwright and husband Randy; six grandchildren, Jeremy Cartwright, Brandy Carman, Leann Van Hooser, Ricky Van Hooser, Ryan Van Hooser, Tonya Gubareva; five great-grandchildren, Briana Boone, Brooke Carman, Johnna Carman, Jacob Van Hooser, Kristan Van Hooser; brother-in-law, Lewis McCoy; a very special sister-in-law, Sharon Bridal; two special Grace Living Center, care givers Angie and Julia and Faith Hospice care giver Carrie; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a special grandmother, Lura Hicks and a sister-in-law, Ruth McCoy.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
