A graveside service for Don Theodore Baxter, 88, of Tulsa, formerly of Woodward, will be 2 p.m. Friday in Elmwood Cem-etery, Woodward. The Rev. Ray Blakley will officiate. Arrange-ments are by Billings Funeral Home, Woodward.
He was born Nov. 5, 1917, in Curtis to Charles George and Jean Steward Baxter and died Monday, Sept. 18, 2006, at his home.
He attended Curtis Grade School and graduated from Mooreland High School in 1934. He worked at Williams Auto Co. in Mooreland, doing paint and body work. He moved with the business to Woodward at the beginning of World War II.
He married Dortha Matilda Bourbonnais Nov. 5, 1939, in Mooreland. In 1944, they moved to Wichita, Kan., where he was foreman for Aero Parts Manufacturing Co., which made parts for military aircraft. He served in the Army from 1945 to 1946 and played the clarinet in 7th Division Army Band.
They lived in Woodward from 1946 to 1996 where he worked at Bosch Electric and Carl’s Machine Shop and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a 33rd degree Mason and a member of Masonic Fraternity of Oklahoma Local Lodge 189 in Woodward. He also was a volunteer firefighter with Woodward Fire Department.
In 1996, they made their home in Tulsa where he was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Dortha of the home; one daughter, Donna Lynn Burton; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by one son and two sisters.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Boy Scouts of America Troop 8 in Tulsa.
