Zona “Gayle” Barnes, was born on July 17, 1939 to Martin and Martha Swires in Canadian, TX. As a child, the family made their home in Waynoka, OK where she grew up. This is where she met and married Bobby Gene Jones and the couple had two sons; Martin L. Jones and Ken Allen Jones. Later, she moved to California where she met and married Buck Barnes and the couple had her third son, Leslie B. Barnes. Later they moved to Oklahoma City where they started their own business. She moved to Woodward in 1986 until 2016 when she made one final move to the Seiling Nursing Center. She passed from this life on December 22, 2019 at the age of 80 years, 5 months, and five days.
Gayle is preceded in death by her parents Martin H. and Martha B. Swires; brother Martin L. Swires; three nieces, Shelley, Treasa Bea, and Valerie, and one granddaughter.
She is survived by a sister Ona Bea Lile of Garnett, KS; her three sons, Martin L. Jones of Seiling, OK, Ken A. Jones and wife Sonja of Fort Supply, and Leslie B. Barnes and wife LaRee of Fargo, OK; six grandchildren Melissa Rocha and husband Mateo, Bryan Jones, Allen Jones, Ashly Jones, Jeffrey Barnes, and Tanner Barnes; step grandchildren Donovan and Katie Cannon and Nichole Bogart and husband Terry; great-grandchildren, MeKenna Jones, Sierra Calvillo, Rosalyn Rocha, Jalyssa Rocha, Kaisley Rocha, Raymond Rocha, Hadley Paige Barnes, Ethan Bogart, and Amber Bogart; special nieces Candis McDowell of Garnett, KS and Lacey Robertson of Sawyer, KS, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family will be holding a small graveside celebration at Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward, OK on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 2:00 P.M.
