Stella Apple, 85 year old former Woodward area resident, passed away Friday, February 23, 2018 in Yukon, Oklahoma. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at the Elmwood Cemetery. Burial will follow.
Stella Charlotte (Hohweiler) Apple was born on April 21, 1932 to Frederich and Eva Hohweiler. She was raised on the farm near Fargo, Oklahoma. She graduated from Fargo High School. After high school she married Billy Gene Mahlock and to this union she had three children, Darcy Eugene, Robert Darrell, and Alicia Dawn. On October 15, 1965 she married Kenneth Wayne Apple and to this marriage a son Joe Wayne was born. Stella worked at Southwestern Bell in Woodward until moving to Bethany, Oklahoma and continued her career for Southwestern Bell/At&T until her retirement. She moved to Mooreland in 1989 and lived there with her husband Wayne until his death in April of 1990. She continued to lived in Mooreland until 1998, at which time she moved to Weatherford staying there until November of 2000. Stella moved to Hydro and lived there until September of 2009. Because of health reasons, she relocated to an assisted living center in Weatherford staying there until 2016. She then moved to Yukon to the Victorian Estates Living Center where she passed away.
Stella had a green thumb and could grow anything. Plants thrived under her care. She continued to have many flowers until the time of her death.
Stella was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her two brothers, Alex Hohweiler and Alfred Hohweiler, her three sisters, Leona Peil, Laura Hudson and Katherine File. She is survived by her children Darcy Mahlock, Darrell Mahlock and wife Connie, Alicia (Mahlock) Utz and husband Todd, and Joe Apple; seven grandchildren, Michael Villaflour and wife Lori, Rick Mahlock and wife Amber, Angela (Mahlock) Burras and husband Andy, Misty (Mahlock) Cates and husband Bobby, Kris Mahlock and wife Heather, Danielle (Beason) Kemendo and husband Kevin, and Radley Beason. Also surviving ar her five great-grandchildren: Keeley Mahlock, Karlee Cates, Camren and Carson Kemendo and Rex Burras and many nieces and nephews.
