A graveside service with military honors for Murlin Alley, 94, of Oceanside, Calif., will be at 2 p.m. Monday May 12, 2008, in Elmwood Cemetery, Woodward. Melvin Rittenhouse will officiate. Arrangements are by Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Service. He was born Nov. 24,1913, in Woodward to Corbett and Gladys (Fithen) Alley and died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, in Oceanside, Calif.

He graduated from Woodward High School then attended two years at Woodward Junior College. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in chemical engineering at Oklahoma State University then worked a short time for City Services Oil Co. He married Eileen "Peg" Marks Alley on June 28, 1941, in Yuma, Ariz. He served in the United State Navy as a aviator from 1937 to 1963 and attained the rank of captain. He received the Navy's Air Medal for the rescue of a pilot in the Bermuda Triangle. After retiring from the military, they lived in Fairfield, Conn., and Falls Church, Va., before making thier home in Oceanside. She preceded him in death.

He was survived by one son, Mark Alley; two daughters, Diann "Happy" Elliott and Merle Lynn Browne, both of Oceanside; three sisters, Lois Kibby of Apache Junction, Ariz., Agnes Giddens of Udall, Kan., and June Duggin of Woodward; three brothers, Jack D. Alley of Oceanside, Eldon E. Alley of Bartlesville, Calif. and Corbett Lloyd Alley Tucson; and an extended family of relatives.
