ROBERT WAYNE MERICK, was born June 16, 1947 in Oklahoma City. He departed this life on Monday, May 3, 2010 at the Seiling Municipal Hospital at the age of 62 years.
He was known to his family and friends as "Bob" and he was raised in the Byron, Oklahoma community in Alfalfa County. He was united in marriage to Lynda McCollom, November 23, 1968 at the Elm Grove Church. They have made their home in Seiling where they raised their three children: Julie Dawn, Gregory Scott and Alisa Nichole. Bob has been an employee for the City of Seiling the past 35 years where he held the position of superintendent of streets and alleys. He also enjoyed farming and raising cattle at the family farm north of Chester. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowled on a bowling league for sometime. Mostly he loved and enjoyed his family.
He is survived by his wife, Lynda Merick of Seiling, two daughters: Julie Campbell and husband Steve of Chester and Alisa Merick of Seiling; one son: Greg Merick and wife Aimee of Edmond; three grandchildren: Kellie Dawn and Kendra Nichole Campbell and Zachary Wayne Merick. He is also survived by an aunt and uncle he was close to: Bill and Rita Ward of Canton, besides other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emily Ann Merick and his father and mother-in-law: Orville and Alzada McCollom.
The funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Elm Grove Community Church with Pastor Orville White, officiating. Interment followed in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Area Medical Foundation with the Redinger Funeral Home-PO Box 236-Seiling, OK 73663, serving as custodian of the funds.
