Gary Patton, 81 year old Mooreland resident, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2025 in Woodward. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2025 at the Curtis Cemetery. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Gary Ray Patton was born in the Mooreland Hospital on September 28, 1943 to Orval Elwood and Venita Alice (Ingraham) Patton. He grew up in the Mooreland area going to the Mooreland schools from 1st to 5th grades, then the Curtis Schools from 6th to 8th grade, then Mooreland school, graduating from Mooreland High School in 1962. Gary joined the National Guard 45th Division and was honorably discharged in 1970.
He lived and worked on the farm and helped haul hay for neighbors. At the age of 16, he started working for the Woodward Livestock Auction and worked there until 1965. On February 27, 1965 he was united in marriage to Addie Lora Porter. To this union was born one son Mark Alan Patton.
In December of 1965, he started working for Woodward County #1 as a Heavy Equipment Operator and worked there until 1992 when he retired.
Gary and Addie worked on the farm whenever they had time. After he retired they took over the farm work and feeding the cows.
Those left to remember him are his son, Mark Alan Patton; daughter-in-law, Beth Patton; granddaughters: Ashley Nikole Patton, Sarah Renee Griffith and husband Austin; great-grandchildren: Lilian Beth Patton, Oliver Alan Griffith, and Henry Travis Griffith; other relatives and many friends.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Addie Lora Patton, his parents, Orval and Venita Patton and his in-laws, Earl and Lula Porter.
