Whitehorse Cemetery


ALVA — The graveside service for Mary Lou Witchey, 89, of Alva, will be 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, in Whitehorse Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Cole will officiate. Arrangements are by Marshall Funeral Home, Alva.

She was born April 16, 1920, in Whitehorse to Floyd Elmer and Blanche Crabb Witchey and died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, in Alva.

She attended grade school in Pleasant Ridge, Whitehorse and Farry. In 1933, the family moved to Alva and she graduated from Alva High School in 1938.

In 1942, she moved to Salem, Ore. She worked in a large department store as ladies sportswear department manager until 1961, when she moved to Oakdale, Calif.

She returned to Alva in 1969. She worked for Singer Sewing Company, then TG&Y, retiring when the store closed in Alva.

Surviving are five brothers, Billy Witchey, Robert Witchey, Dean Witchey and Dale Witchey, all of Alva, and Earl Witchey of Webster, S.D.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to American Heart Association.
