Graveside services for Freddie Lee Parsons will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at Waynoka Municipal Cemetery, with the Rev. Barbara Fyffe officiating. Interment is under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka LLC.

Freddie Lee Parsons, son of the late Ralph L. and Virginia Kathryn (Zook) Parsons, was born Dec. 18, 1946, in Alva, and passed away Sept. 17, 2014, in Waynoka, at the age of 68 years, 8 months and 29 days.

Fred attended Waynoka schools and graduated with the class of 1966. After graduation, Fred attended Spartan Aviation in Tulsa until he was drafted by the Army in April 1968. After a tour in Vietnam, he was honorably discharged in June 1969. On July 4, 1995, Fred was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received during combat in the Vietnam War.

He helped his family in their custom harvesting business from North Dakota to Texas for many years. On Jan. 10, 1976, he was united in marriage to Nancy Barker. To this union, two children were born, Lisa and Todd.

Fred worked in Mooreland for 19 years at ANR Pipeline, then as a janitor for Waynoka Public Schools until his retirement.

Fred is survived by his daughter, Lisa George and husband, Travis, of Waynoka; one son, Todd Parsons and wife, Stephanie, of Oklahoma City; his brother, Rudy Parsons and wife, Marva, of Oklahoma City; his sister Regina Scribner of Carrollton, Texas; three grandsons, Garrison, Roland, and Asher George, all of Waynoka; two aunts, Marijess Parsons of Amarillo, Texas, and Myrna Ossola of Colorado Springs; other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Wounded Warriors Project.
