Funeral services for Winifred Adaline Gates is 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at the Waynoka Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Dave Jones, pastor of the Waukomis Christian Church, officiating. Interment is in the Waynoka Municipal Cemetery, under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka, LLC.
Winifred Adaline Gates, daughter of the late Herbert Thomas and Sara Mima (Potter) Springer, was born August 8, 1926, at Waynoka, and passed away Jan. 10, 2017, at Enid, at the age of 90 years, 5 months, and 2 days. Winifred attended Waynoka Schools. In 1940 she was united in marriage to Everett Franklin Willson in Waynoka. They made their home there, where she cooked for Coulter's Café, then Miller's Café. Her husband, Everett, passed away in 1960. In 1968, she moved to Enid, where she worked as a cook at Enid State School until her retirement. In 1970 she was united in marriage to Frank Gates at Enid.
She was a member of the Waukomis Christian Church. She always enjoyed bowling, playing Bingo and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed her dogs, especially her Chihuahuas.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett; her husband, Frank, who passed away in 1993; two brothers, Delbert Springer and Lavalley Springer; one sister, Elsie Brown; one grandchild; and one great great grandchild.
Winifred is survived by four children, Thomas H. Willson and wife, Ellen, of Enid, Alvin D. Willson and wife, Elaine, of Owasso, Sandy A. Charmasson and husband, Eugene, of Enid, and Franklin L. Willson and wife, Debbie, of Enid; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home for expenses.
