Waynoka Cemetery, Woods County, Oklahoma

Ralph Farrand, of Sharon, died Monday of wounds received when he was shot by J. H. Baughan, Woodward policeman and former Alva marshall, while attempting to escape arrest last Friday.

Baughan and other officers had gone to Sharon to arrest him after a fight at that place. Officers claimed the bullet struck a railroad rail and glanced, striking Farrand in the forehead.

Baughan was known here as "Coal Oil Johnnie."
