Funeral services for Bonnie Barker will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019, at the Elm and Murrow Church of Christ with Bill David Walker officiating. Interment will be in the Waynoka Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka LLC.
Bonnie Barker, daughter of the late Charles and Pollena (Hager) Strohmeyer, was born August 15, 1921, at Waynoka, and passed away January 29, 2019, at Enid at the age of 97 years, 5 months and 14 days.
Bonnie grew up in Waynoka and attended school there. On July 2, 1940, she was united in marriage to Herman Barker in Alva. They made their home east of Waynoka where they raised two daughters. Bonnie was a member of the Elm and Murrow Church of Christ. She worked at the Woodward Manufacturing Company in Woodward from 1972 to 1981. She liked quilting, cooking, and working in her yard. She was very well liked and willing to lend a helping hand to everyone.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers and seven sisters; one granddaughter; and one great grandson.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty Browning of Guymon and Dixie Whipple of Waynoka; four grandchildren, Laina Courtney and her husband Mark of Collinsville, Teresa Hodgson and her husband Kevin of Cherokee, David Browning and his wife Robin of Brookfield, New Mexico, and Darin Browning and his wife Cami of Guymon; 12 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Elm and Murrow Church of Christ.
