Ricky Lee Baird, 36, of Waynoka, died early Saturday morning in a one vehicle accident.
At 4 a.m. Baird was driving his 2006 Dodge pickup east on Choctaw Road a half mile east of County Road 340 in Woods County. For an unknown reason, the pickup ran off the right side of the roadway, striking a mailbox. Baird then overcorrected, and the pickup ran off the roadway on the left, rolling two times and ejecting the driver. The pickup came to rest on its wheels.
Baird died at the scene of head and trunk injuries. He was taken to Marshall Funeral Home in Waynoka. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 17, at 3 p.m. at the Waynoka School with Mike Marsalis officiating. Interment will be in the Waynoka Municipal Cemetery.
Highway Patrol Trooper Randal McCullough investigated the accident and reported airbags did not deploy and seatbelts were not in use. Assisting at the scene were OHP Lt. Tony Lucero and the Woods County Sheriff’s Office along with Waynoka Fire, Police and EMS.
