The graveside service for “J.R.” Lyon, 85, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, in Memorial Hill Cemetery, near Waynoka. Arrangements are by Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
He was born Oct. 20, 1923, in Shamrock to James E. and Valley Belle Harriss Lyon and died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center.
He was raised and educated in Enid and graduated from Enid High School in 1943. He entered the Navy May 26, 1943, serving with the 4th Marine Division as a medical coreman. He was honorably discharged April 2, 1946.
Following the war, he attended Enid Business College and then worked for George E. Failing Co. as an accountant. He remained with Failings for nearly 50 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church and International Accounts Association.
Surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to American Heart Association or Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch.
