Misty Kay Johnson, daughter of the late James Kenneth McCarter and Lawana Sue McCarter, was born January 16, 1970, in Clovis, New Mexico, and passed away August 17, 2019, at her home in Enid at the age of 49 years, 7 months and 1 day.
Misty grew up in Clovis, New Mexico, and graduated high school there. She then attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University and later Northwest Technology Center. She worked for Chesapeake Energy as a water transfer, was a property inspector for insurance claims, and later enjoyed being a housewife. On November 11, 1999, she was united in marriage to Jeremiah Ellis Johnson at Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
She loved the outdoors. She was an avid golfer, loved laying out in her pool, and working in her yard. Her goal was to get "Yard of the Month." Misty was what you call a "handyman," she loved to work on and restore furniture. She even owned her own shop in Alva called Misty J's Creation. Even at the end, Misty was flashing her beautiful smile. Misty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left a remarkable presence with her time on this earth and will be greatly missed.
Misty is survived by her husband, Jeremy Johnson (of Enid); her daughters, Ashley Clark and husband Andrew (of Andover, Kansas) and Mandy Wardlaw and husband Brock (of Tuttle); granddaughters AllieRae and Addilyn Clark, and Jayde Wardlaw; mother-in-law Kim Johnson (of Enid); brother James McCarter (of Alva); sister Melissa Watkins and husband Steve (of Clovis, New Mexico); nephews Steven Watkins and Jerrod Watkins; niece Melanie Brittenum; her dogs, Bristol and Bryson; other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions for medical and funeral expenses may be made through the funeral home and will be left in the care of Jeremy Johnson.
