Donald Lee Hood, son of the late Walter Lee and Mary Myrtle (Reasoner) Hood, was born July 22, 1941, at Chester, Oklahoma, and passed away April 7, 2011, at Alva, Oklahoma, at the age of 69 years, 8 months, and 19 days.
Don graduated from Alva High School with the Class of 1960. On July 28, 1960, he was united in marriage to Kay Lynn Cook at Alva, Oklahoma. He worked for Kinzie Industries until 1967, when he joined the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. In 1989, he retired from the Highway Patrol and worked as a Drivers License Examiner until his retirement in 1999.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Hood.
Don is survived by his wife, Kay Lynn Hood of Alva; two sons, Randall Hood and fiancé, Barbara Startz, of Broken Arrow, and Michael Hood and wife, Brenda, of Alva; one brother, Harold Hood and wife, Greta, of Topeka, Kansas; two sisters, Betty Lively and husband, Jim, of Sharon, Oklahoma, and Linda Thompkins of Granbury, Texas; six grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Alzheimer’s research.
