Funeral services for Walter D. "Dub" Hartwig will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2019, at Zion Lutheran Church, 218 Maple St. Alva, OK 73717. Interment will be in the Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Walter D. "Dub" Hartwig, 78, passed away January 30, 2019. Dub was born Sept 10, 1940, in Alva, Oklahoma, to Harold and Noradean (Nonnie) Hartwig. He passed away January 30, 2019, in Oklahoma City.

He graduated from El Reno High School in 1958 and attended the University of Oklahoma and Spartan School of Aeronautics. He was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity at OU. Dub was a successful entrepreneur who owned and operated many coin-op laundries, a landscape company, a carwash, and an oil change business.

Upon retiring in 1995, Dub and Patty pursued his love of nature and photography by becoming full time volunteers in Yellowstone National Park. From living on the farm as a young boy to becoming a private pilot to racing drag boats and driving spotless black corvettes and trucks, Dub lived life to the fullest. He found great joy in sharing his masterful photographs and stories of countless adventures.

He is survived by his wife, Patty Chiles Hartwig, son Ryan Hartwig and wife Ashley; five beloved grandchildren, Brooklyn, Ashton and Camden Hartwig, and Nick and Erik Denwalt; brother Douglas Hartwig and wife Lynn; nephews Ty, Sam and Gus Hartwig; brother-in-law Roger Chiles and wife Marquetta.

Dub had many dear friends including Lisa Hammond, Rebecca Drass, Stephanie Spiser, Julie Hannaford, Dennis Lojko, Steven Klabzuba, Sonny Weaver and Irvin and Juanita Heckes.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alzheimer's Association.
