Galena Cemetery


Alva – Graveside service for Verland Richard Thornton, 67, who died Monday, December 28, 1992, at the Carmen Home, will be at 4 PM Wednesday in Galena Cemetery at Aline. The Rev. David White, pastor of Alva Assembly of God, will officiate. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel.

He was born November 25, 1925, in a dugout near Galena to Richard "Dick" and Viva Erma McCully Thornton. He attended Twin Oaks rural grade school and worked on the farm. He was a member of Alva Assembly of God.

Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Judge (Alverna) Branson of Oklahoma City; one brother, Elwin of Oklahoma City; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the church.
