October 17, 1952 - July 31, 2021Jackie Ann Smith Sherrell went to be with her Lord on July 31, 2021, at the age of 68 years. She was born on October 17, 1952, to Gerald (Jack) and Lola Smith in Coldwater, Kansas.
She graduated from Freedom High School in 1972, then moved to Alva with her parents a few years later. It was there that she met the love of her life, Tim Sherrell, and they were married September 26, 1992. The happy couple lived in Woodward until 1994, then they moved back to Alva. Tim and Jackie were foster parents to two wonderful boys who blessed their lives for a couple years.
Jackie loved her family, her church and her God. She also enjoyed camping and being outdoors. Despite her physical limitations, she had an adventuresome spirit and loved to travel. People in Alva could often see her riding her scooter around the streets of town. She would always greet others with a big smile and loved to tell them about her Savior.
Jackie is survived by her husband Tim of the home in Alva, and three brothers: Kenneth and wife Cynda Smith of Coffeyville, Kansas; Dennis Smith of Burlington, Kansas; and Ted and wife Georgia Smith of Bristow, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law Chester Sherrell, and mother-in-law Janette Sherrell. Her sister-in-law, Diana Smith, also preceded her in death in 2001.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Alva First Baptist Church with Reverend Chris Ruwaldt officiating. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. in the Freedom Cemetery. Wharton Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at http://www.whartonfuneralchapel.com.
