ENID — The funeral for Wanda L. Hackney, 83, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2010, at First Christian Church, Valley Center, Kan. A second service will be held at 4:30 p.m. at Freedom Christian Church. Pastors Chuck Terrill and Mark Kinkle will officiate. Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.
Wanda Lea, daughter of Florence Lucille (Long) and Cecil Floyd (Swede) Bickford was born Aug. 28, 1926, in Freedom, Okla. She passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Wichita St. Francis Hospital.
Mrs. Hackney was a member of Valley Center First Christian Church, a past chapter regent of the Little Arkansas Chapter of the D.A.R.
She was preceded in death by Earl on May 27, 1985; her son, Gayland Dee on Feb. 7, 1985; a grandson, Craig Alan Michlitsch; and her parents.
Wanda is survived by her daughter, Linda Michlitsch and her husband Robert of Wichita; two sons, Leslie Earl and his wife Kathy and Charles Eugene, all of Valley Center, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Crystal Rogers, Tammy Weber, John Michlitsch, Michelle Rinehart, Chantel LaMaster, Daniel Hackney and Kira Peasley; nine great-grand children; a sister, Iris Omsby of Oklahoma City; a brother, Melvin Bickford of Alva; a sister-in-law, Colleen Nixon of Enid, Okla.; and a brother-in-law and his wife, Walter Dee and Sue Hackney of Omaha, Neb.; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Contributions may be made in her memory to the Little Arkansas Chapter of the D.A.R. to 536 North Birch, Valley Center, KS 67147.
