Gilbert Leroy Carlson
Funeral service for Gilbert Carlson, 90, will be 2 Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Freedom Christian Church, with Pastor Mark Kinkle officiating. Interment will be at Freedom Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home, Alva.
Gilbert Leroy Carlson, son of the late Charles Leroy and Dorres (Beagley) Carlson, was born Feb. 14, 1925, in Attica, Kan., and passed away Friday, March 6, 2015, in Alva, Okla.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Leonard; sister-in-law, Betty Carlson; and four brothers-in-law, Cleo Maxwell, Melvin Thompson, Ray Pantry and Ernest Burrows.
Gilbert is survived by his wife, Lois Carlson; son, Denis Carlson and wife Sara; grandchildren, Lynn and Tippie Bolar, Pebbles and Ky Luddington, Lonnie Bolar and Pake and Jackie Carlson, all residing in and around Freedom; seven great-granddaughters; five great-grandsons; and four great-great-grandsons. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, BettyJo Maxwell of Rosamond, Calif., Joyce Thompson of Mobile, Ala., and Zola Pantry of Oklahoma City; one brother-in-law, Donald Maxwell of Alva; a very special friend, Betty Robertson of Buffalo; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral for Lois Carlson will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, at Freedom Christian Church. The Rev. Mark Kinkle will officiate. Interment will be in Freedom Cemetery under direction of Marshall Funeral Home, Alva.
Lois Marie Maxwell was born Dec. 28, 1925, to Herbert and Mary (Beck) Maxwell in Alva and passed away July 31, 2015, at Buffalo at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 3 days.
She started school in 1931 at Cleo Springs and later attended school in Cheyenne, Okla. Lois graduated from high school at Selman as valedictorian of her class in 1944.
Lois and Gilbert Carlson met while Lois was working for Vesta and Ray Howard in the summer of 1945. They were married Feb. 24, 1946, at Lookout in Dorres and Leroy Carlson's house. Gilbert's brother, Leonard, performed the ceremony.
Gilbert and Lois started farming and ranching in the Lookout community and resided there until they moved to Alva in 2012 due to illness. While living in Lookout, one son, Denis Leroy Carlson, was born in 1951. Lois was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and was loved by all in the community. Lois was a pianist and always played for the Elkhorn Church services. Lois greatly enjoyed and was active in Cimarron Neighbor's Club and held different offices in the club.

Lois is survived by her son, Denis Carlson, and wife, Sara, of Freedom; grandchildren, Lynn and Tippe Bolar, Pebbles and Ky Luddington, Lonnie and Janet Bolar, and Pake and Jackie Carlson, all of the Freedom area; seven great-granddaughters; five great-grandsons; and four great-great-grandsons; two sisters, Joyce Thompson of Mobile, Ala., and Zola Pantry of Oklahoma City; one brother Donald Maxwell and wife, Glenda, of Alva; two sisters-in-law, Betty Jo Maxwell of Rosamond, Calif., and Eleanor Burrows of Grand Prairie, Texas; a very special friend, Betty Robertson, of Buffalo; other relatives and many friends.
