Capron Veteran Dies in Hospital
Legion Post to Hold Services
January 19, 1931
Funeral services for Willie G. Shipman, who passed away Monday in Veterans hospital at Muskogee, were being arranged today by the Capron American Legion post.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed awaiting the arrival of the body in Capron. Funeral services will be held at Capron, possibly Thursday or Friday, with burial in the Fairview Cemetery northwest of Alva.
Mr. Shipman was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Shipman of Capron.
He served with the A. E. F. In France where he was gassed. He never recovered and had been in the hospital at Muskogee for some time.
He also is survived by his widow and three children who are living at Belle Plain, Kansas.

Shipman Funeral at 2:30 Friday
January 22, 1931
Funeral services for Willie E. Shipman, Capron former soldier, who passed away Monday at the disabled veterans hospital at Muskogee, will be held at 2:30 PM Friday at the Methodist Episcopal church at Capron.
The Capron American Legion post will have charge of the services.
Burial will be made in the Fairview Cemetery.
