Fairvalley Cemetery


A graveside service for Ralph V. Wheat, 78, of Alva will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Fairvalley Cemetery. The Rev. John Clapp will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home, Alva.

He was born Aug. 20, 1929, in Woods County to John and Clara Eckels Wheat and died Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at Share Convalescent Home, Alva.

He attended McKeever School. He served over six years in the Army. He married Evelyn Ella Feitzinger May 19, 1951, at Lyndhurst, N.J. He drove a truck until he retired in 1989. He moved to Alva in October 2002. He was a member of Alva Masonic Lodge 105, a 32nd degree member of Guthrie Scottish Rite Consistory, India Shrine, and American Legion Post 92.

Surviving are his daughter, Judy Hawksford of Alva; two brothers, Walter Combs of Rimrock, Ariz., and Joe Combs of Springdale, Ark.; four sisters, Lorna Susie Canaan of Alva, Rosemary Patton of Mira Loma, Calif., Virginia Lever of Pueblo West, Colo., and Esther Mayfield of LaJolla, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Evelyn, he was preceded in death by two sisters.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Masonic Lodge 105, Alva, or 307, Cherokee.
