August 28, 1923 - August 28, 2018

Funeral services for Hazel Margaret Leatherman will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with Reverend Aaron Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in Capron Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at http://www.whartonfuneralchapel.com.

Hazel Margaret, daughter of Frances Anna (Eggstein) and Karl Charlie Wagner was born August 28, 1923. She passed away at the Alva Share Convalescent Home on her 95th birthday, August 28, 2018.

She attended school in Capron and graduated with the class of 1941.

On January 28, 1943, Hazel married Wesley Walter Leatherman at the Lutheran Church in Pendleton, Oregon. To their marriage two children, Bonnie J. and Charles Wesley, were born.

Following their marriage they lived in Oregon for a short time before returning to Alva.

Hazel worked at the Vista Motel from the early '80s until its closing in 2001.

She enjoyed spending time outside and taking care of her fruit trees, garden and flowers. She was an active member of the Alva Zion Lutheran Church, where she chaired the Mary Martha Guild rummage sale for many years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; her daughter, Bonnie; her parents; and two brothers, Glenn Charles and Leonard Theo.

Hazel is survived by her son and his wife, Charles and Collene; three grandchildren, Katherine and husband Curtis, Brooke and Blake; three great grandchildren, Libby, Emma and Evan; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Zion Lutheran Church.
