Betty Mae Townsend went to be with her maker on November 22, 2006 at the age of 79. Born February 23, 1927 in Alva, OK, Betty was a graduate of Alva High School. She married Robert L. Townsend on May 18, 1946. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Townsend, brother, Howard McKinney of Wichita, Kansas, father AJ McKinney and mother Clara McKinney of Alva, Oklahoma.
She is survived by a sister, Norma Thornberry of Beaver, Oklahoma, daughter, Carol L. Wright, son-in-law David Wright both of Lewisville, Texas, and granddaughter Stacey Wright of Irving, Texas. Additionally, a son, Scott A. Townsend and daughter-in-law Pamela K. Townsend, grandsons, Christopher S. Townsend and Jeffrey R. Townsend and granddaughter Jennifer J. Townsend all of Flower Mound , Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Oklahoma and Texas.
Following a graveside service, Betty will be interred in the Cemetery in Alva, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Universal Hospice, 1200 Country Club Lane, Fort Worth, Texas 76112.
