Funeral services for Wanda Severn will be held Friday, June 28, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Chapel with Reverend Carol Cook Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Alva Municipal Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at http://www.whartonfuneralchapel.com.
Wanda Lee, daughter of LaVerne (Garvie) and Smith Gingrich, was born August 1, 1938, in Quinlan, Oklahoma. She passed away June 26, 2019, in Enid, Oklahoma, at the age of 80 years, 10 months and 25 days.
She attended the Mayfield-Garvie one-room schoolhouse through eighth grade and graduated from Quinlan High School with the Class of 1956. Following high school she attended Northwestern State College where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in home economics in 1959.
On August 11, 1957, Wanda married Sylvester Severn in Mooreland, Oklahoma. To their marriage three children, Chad, Julia and Krista, were born.
Wanda enjoyed sewing and gardening but her true joy was her family. She loved spending time with her family and was a big part of all of their lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, LaVerne and Smith; her husband, Sylvester; and a great grandson, Evan Alexander.
Wanda is survived by her three children and their spouses, Chad and Claudia, Julia and Donald Lee, Krista and Bryan Wick; nine grandchildren, Ashley, Joshua, Kasey, Isabella, Kaylee, Nathan and Corina, Riley, Shelby, Rickey and Saddie; five great-grandchildren, Dominic, Annabel, Selma, Gavin and Rickey III. She is also survived by four sisters, Donna and Cecil, Coleen and Jerome, LaDeana and Errol and Connie; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to: OMRF for cancer research.
