Lorene B. RUST
Alva Cemetery
Lorene B. Rust, 83, of Alva, Oklahoma, died Jan. 4, 2002, at Intergris Bass Baptist Health Center in Enid, Oklahoma.
Services were 10:30 a.m., Jan. 7, at the Alva First United Methodist Church. The Rev. J. Weegie Williams officiated. Burial was in the Alva Municipal Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Alva United Methodist Church's Save the Stained Glass Fund.
Wharton Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Casket bearers were Olen Gray, Steve Kline, Randy Hamilton, Larry Lewis, Darrell Kline and Delbert Rhodes.
Rust was born Feb. 20, 1918, on a farm east of Capron, Oklahoma, to Nora Marie (Weigand) and Daniel Valentine Rust. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1935.
In 1935 she went to Wichita, Kansas where she worked for a short time before moving to Alva to work for TG&Y. She worked for Safeway from 1942-1985.
Rust was a member of the Alva First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her friend, Mary Poe Joseph, Alva; two sisters, Effie Cavanaugh, Hutchinson, Kansas; and Naomi Gannon, Enid, Oklahoma, and a nephew, Phil Rust, Winfield, Kansas
