Enid, OK — The funeral for Janice Marie Rhodes, 63, of Alva, will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2009, at First United Methodist Church, Alva. The Rev. Terry Martindale will officiate. Burial will be in Alva Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.
She was born Oct. 2, 1945, in Alva to Florence May Lyon and Loyd Edgar Dowling and died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at The Sterling House, Enid.
She attended Freedom and Alva schools, graduating in 1961. She attended North-western State College for two years, earning an associate of business degree. She later earned a registered medical records librarian degree.
She worked for Alva General Hospital and Share Medical Center for 28 years as medical records librarian and served twice as interim manager. She worked 10 years at Northwestern Mental Health as librarian. She supervised medical records for Guymon, Woodward, Fort Supply and Fairview hospitals.
She attended Alva First United Methodist Church, was a charter member of Women of the Moose, B.P.W. and Red Hat Society.
Surviving are one sister, Norma Cochran of Tempe, Ariz.
Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, diabetes division.
