Enid,OK — The memorial
service for Elmer H. Rhodes,
80, of Anthony, Kan.,
formerly of Alva, will be 11
a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2008,
at First Baptist Church,
Anthony. The Rev. Teddy Cook
will officiate. A military
graveside service will be 4
p.m. Friday in Alva
Municipal Cemetery. The Rev.
Rodger Tyrrell will
officiate. Cremation
arrangements are by Prairie
Rose Funeral Home, Anthony.
Family visitation will be 9
a.m. to 5 p.m. today, Oct.
14, 2008, through Thursday,
Oct. 16, 2008, at the
funeral home.
He was born Aug. 29, 1928,
south of Alva to Dorris
Edward and Cordelia Sayre
Rhodes and died Saturday,
Oct. 11, 2008, at his home
in Anthony.
He married Nellie Faulkner
Oct. 2, 1954, in Alva. He
was a retired high school
mathematics teacher and a
member of First Baptist
Church.
Surviving are his wife,
Nellie, of the home; three
daughters, Lynn Lauderdale
of Enid, Sarah Bretches of
Great Bend, Kan., and Mary
Gesing of Cedar Rapids,
Iowa; one brother, Bill
Rhodes of Carmen; one
sister, Beulah Mathes of
Alva; and nine
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by
eight brothers and sisters.
Memorials may be made
through the funeral home,
602 E. Maine, Anthony, KS
67003, to First Baptist
Church or American Heart
Association.
