Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ron Pingelton, pastor Alva First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) officiating. Burial will follow in Alva Municipal Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at http://www.whartonfuneralchapel.com. Genevee Quinn passed away at Share Medical Center Hospital on November 13, 2017, at the age of 93 years, 4 months and 22 days.

Genevee Ilene (Haltom) Quinn, daughter of Laura (Nelson) and Andrew Haltom, was born on June 22, 1924, near Hopeton, Oklahoma. Genevee attended school up to eighth grade at the OK District 15 rural school east of Hopeton. She graduated from Alva High School with the class of 1942. She attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University for two years and received her temporary teaching certificate. She then taught school at Pleasant View Woods County Rural School for two and a half years.

Genevee married Herbert Milton Quinn Jr. on August 9, 1945, at the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Hopeton. Genevee's grandmother, Rev. Grace Nelson, officiated at the ceremony. Of this marriage they had a son, Austin Eugene Quinn. The couple resided in Alva the rest of their life. Genevee worked at Burr's clothing store and Warrick's shoe store in the early 1950s. Then she started working for Central National Bank and worked there for 39 years, retiring in the late 1980s. She became a member of Alva First Christian Church. She was member of the Chancel Choir for 50 years. She was also active in the Women's Christian Fellowship at the church. Genevee joined the Woods County Genealogical Society and served in all of the offices. She was a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution since 1983. She was the past regent and served as treasurer, secretary and chaplain for the Cherokee Outlet Chapter of NSDAR.

Preceding her in death were her husband, H.M. Quinn Jr .; her parents; and her sister, Shirley Murray.

Genevee is survived by her son Austin and wife Peggy of Shawnee, sister Marcile Lancaster and husband Arthur of Alva; two nephews, Lelan and wife Teresa of Dodge City, Kansas, and Lynn Lancaster of San Diego, California; one niece, Kimberly and husband Roy Lee Daniels of Hopeton.
