Funeral for Neal Lavern Percival Sr. will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2015, at Alva First Baptist Church. Pastor Mike Taylor and Rev. John Clapp will officiate. Interment will be in Alva Municipal Cemetery under direction of Marshall Funeral Home, Alva.
Neal Lavern Percival, son of the late Lloyd Chester and Florence Miranda (Mackey) Percival, was born January 4, 1928, on the farm south of Hopeton and passed away July 2, 2015, at his home in Hopeton, at age 87 years 5, months, and 28 days.
Neal attended Friendship School.
On Dec. 22, 1945, he was united in marriage to Peggy Jane Vore in Kansas.
He lived all of his life in the Hopeton area, where he farmed and ranched. He also worked at Alva Roller Mills for several years. He was a member of Hopeton Wesleyan Church and Alva Elks Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing and was an excellent trap shooter. He also loved racing cars when he was younger. He was an avid sports fan, especially when his grandchildren were involved.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy; one brother, Chester Percival; and two grandchildren, Cody Jack Budy and Tina Marie Percival. Neal is survived by one son, Neal “Butch” Percival Jr. and wife, Cindy, of Hopeton; two daughters, Jane Budy and husband, Terry, of Alva, and Janice Jack and husband, Rick, of Canandaigua, N.Y.; and two brothers, Bill Percival and wife, Pat, of Hays, Kan., and Kenneth Percival and wife, Donna, of Enid. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for heart disease research. Remembrances may be shared with the family at
