The funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2017, at Wharton Funeral Chapel, Pastor Alan Siebel officiating. Interment is in Alva Municipal Cemetery. Linwood Junior Paul died August 7, 2017, in his home in Hot Springs Village, Ark., 97 years old.
Linwood was born to Emma Wiebener Paul and Linwood Boyer Paul on Jan. 3, 1920, in Alva, in the home of his paternal grandparents. He attended Short Springs School for one year. The following year, he changed to the one-room North Eagle School and attended it through the eighth grade. All but a couple of the students were cousins. He attended Alva High School and was a Goldbug football player. After high school, his family moved to Carmen, where they ran the International Harvester Implement business. In Carmen, he met the love of his life and his soulmate. It was love at first site and on April 9, 1939 he married Josephine Brown. They remained married to each other for 77 years, until Josephine died Nov. 7, 2016. In 1941, they opened a new International Harvester business in Alva. In Alva they raised two children, Larry and Jarilyn. In 1972 they moved to Enid and were in the scrap metal and pipe business. In 2015 Linwood and Josephine moved from Enid to Hot Springs Village where they lived in an Assisted Living facility. Linwood has given many gifts to his friends and families. He taught us all what unconditional love really means. They were great examples of what marriage and a commitment should be. Linwood was a great planner. It might be a party, a trip across country or maybe just a dinner with friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Josephine, a brother John and his wife Doris, brother in-law Orlen Brown and his wife Janice and a brother-in-law Eugene Ream.
He is survived by his children Larry and his wife Betty, and Jarilyn and her husband Jim, ten grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Katie Mallory and her husband Dean, and his sister in-law Laura Ream. Survivors also include many various nieces and nephews whom they loved.
Memorials in Linwood's name can be made to any hospice of your choice.
