Funeral services for Roy Perks will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2023, at the Bible Baptist Church with Pastor John Clapp officiating. Interment will be in the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Roy Earl Perks, son of the late Norman Sylvanis and Ruby Alice (Harding) Perks, was born January 2, 1961, at Alva, and passed away surrounded by family October 2, 2023, at Oklahoma City, at the age of 62 years and 9 months.

Roy grew up in Alva and graduated from Alva High School with the class of 1980. He also attended Northwest Vo-Tech for carpentry and diesel mechanics. He met the "love of his life," Darlene Abbott, in Kiowa, Kansas, and they dated for two years before marrying on June 28, 1980, in Hazelton, Kansas. They made their home in Alva where they raised their children, Sarah and Josh. Roy was the plant manager at Alva Concrete for many years before retiring.

He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. Roy enjoyed owning pigeons, hunting coons, raising cattle and fishing. As a mechanic, he liked working on his trucks and motorcycles.

Besides his parents, Norman and Ruby Perks, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Joshua Perks, and brothers, Bobby Joe Perks, Rick Perks, and Alfred Perks.

Roy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Darlene of Alva; his daughter, Sarah Perks of Hardtner, Kansas; his grandsons, Cash, Cody, Carter, and Clutch all of Hardtner, Kansas; his brother, Ray Perks of Alva; his sisters, Norma and husband, G.D., of Laverne, and Sherry Kirkpatrick and husband, Danny, of Guthrie; many nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the funeral home. Remembrances may be shared with the family at http://www.marshallfuneralhomes.com.
