Funeral services for Alfred Perks will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2023, at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor John Clapp officiating. Interment will follow in the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Alfred Glenn Perks, son of the late Norman Sylvanis and Ruby Alice (Harding) Perks, was born December 21, 1945, at Alva, and passed away July 10, 2023, at Alva, at the age of 77 years, 6 months and 20 days.

Al was raised in Alva where he attended school. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1965 and proudly served his country, earning a Purple Heart Medal along with several other service medals. He met Linda Mae Rodgers in the early 1980s and they have been together ever since. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. Al enjoyed fishing, working on old cars, gardening, and being a jokester.

Besides his parents, Norman and Ruby, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Alfred Glenn Perks Jr .; his brothers, Bobby Joe Perks and Richard Perks; and one brother-in-law, Bud Swallow.

He is survived by his companion of over 40 years, Linda Rodgers of Alva; his son, Jared Perks of Independence, Kansas; two daughters, Kimberly Rodgers of Alva, and Jennifer Rodgers and signicant other, Michael French, of Alva; two brothers, Ray Perks of Alva, and Roy Perks and wife, Darlene, of Alva; two sisters, Norma "Sis" and husband, G.D., of Laverne, and Sherry Kirkpatrick and husband, Danny, of Guthrie.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Tori Rodgers, Tony Rodgers, Trishia Rodgers, Gabriel Rodgers, and Maecen Rodgers, all of Alva, Aniyah Perks, Amayah Perks, and Jaxon Perks, all of Colorado; great-grandchildren, Raelynn, Liam, D.J., and Amari; many other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the local V.F.W.
