December 13, 1928 - November 26, 2020

Private graveside services for Alan Roy Nusser will be at 2 p.m. Monday, November 30, 2020, at the Alva Municipal Cemetery with Rev. Paul Kirk officiating. Interment is under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Masks will be required. The service will be live streamed on the Marshall Funeral Home Facebook page.

Alan Roy Nusser, son of the late Charles A. and Ada P. Nusser, was born December 13, 1928, on the homestead farm one mile south and one mile west of Hopeton, and went to be with the Lord November 26, 2020, in Alva, Oklahoma, at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 13 days.

Alan attended Friendship School across the road from his home until the eighth grade. He then went to school at Dacoma High School where he was active in all sports and FFA. He worked on and helped publish the school newspaper. He received the Certificate of Award as the winner of the FFA Tractors Operators Contest in 1957.

He married the love of his life, Leota Faye Kinnard, on July 28, 1957. To this union two children were born, Alan Dale and Glenna Jo.

In the early years of his marriage, he worked for Hillcrest Dairy of Alva and Gold Spot Dairy of Enid. His love was farming, raising cattle and custom harvesting. He harvested for 49 years from Texas to Canada and back to South Dakota for fall harvest. He cared for and molded many a young men's lives.

He made the historical trip in 1977 to Washington, D.C., on a tractor to work for better prices for farmers.

Alan loved the Lord faithfully and worked for him at the Dacoma Church of God. He was the youth counselor for many years there. He also had a great love for his family whom he cherished.

He spent the last 2 ½ years of his life at Beadles Nursing Home. He loved all there.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim, Alvin and Harlin; and three sisters, Evelyn Nusser, Ann Shafer and Mary Johnson; and his parents-in-law, Clarence and Jennie Kinnard.

He is survived by his wife, Leota; his son, Alan Dale and wife, Anita; his daughter, Glenna Jo and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Loren and wife, Esther, and Whitney; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Katherine; two brothers, Charles and wife, Judy, and Dean; sister-in-law, Rita and husband, Merle; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Dacoma Church of God or the Beadles Nursing Home Activity Fund.
