The funeral for Russell D. Murrow, 82, of Alva, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27,
2009, at Alva Friends Church, Alva. Mark McDonald, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be in Alva Municipal Cemetery, Alva. Arrangements are by Wharton
Funeral Chapel, Alva.
He was born Aug. 3, 1926, south of Alva to Frank and Ada Graham Murrow and died
Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at his home.
He attended a rural country school. He graduated from Lambert High School in
1944. He joined the Army during World War II, then was recalled during the
Korean War. He married Merle Gean Kilck May 26, 1951, in Phoenix City, Ala. They
farmed and ranched south of Ashley and moved to Alva in 1970. He sold cars for
Holderby.
Surviving are his companion, Donnetta Joachims of Alva; two sons, Franklin and
Kevin, both of Alva; two sisters, Maxine Cochran of Cherokee and Phyllis Goss of
Pratt, Kan.; four grandchildren; and one step-grandson.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
