Alva – The funeral for Fleta McMurphy, 61, who died Wednesday in Fairview, will be at 2 PM Saturday at Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva. Carl W. Hawkins, pastor of Alva Church of God, will officiate. Burial will be in Alva Municipal Cemetery.
Fleta Frieze a was born August 11, 1927, near rural Capron. She attended school north of Freedom, then Capron and Alva. In 1942, she married Al James. She later married Wilbur Simpkins. On June 4, 1961, she married Bob Houston in Alva. He died August 18, 1966. On October 2, 1971, she married Denver McMurphy. He died October 15, 1975. She had worked for Bendix Laundry and the 64 Motel.
Surviving are two daughters, Jamie Diesenbach of Alva and Dawn Frey of Cleveland; one son, Larry James of North Port, Washington; three sisters, Juanita Brewer of Elva, Joan Kassik of Wichita, Kansas, and Mary Hurley of Manford; three brothers, Charles Frieze a of Wichita, Jimmy Frieze a and Jack Frieze, both of Gulf Port, Mississippi; 12 grandchildren; and nine great – grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, one son and one brother.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Cancer Fund.
