The funeral for Roy E. “Amos” Lyon, 88, of Alva will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Alva. Dr. Greg Hook will officiate. Burial will be in Alva Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Marshall Funeral Home.

He was born Oct. 21, 1917, west of Alva to Elmer Belvin and Lottie Steward Lyon and died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at Share Convalescent Home, Alva. 

He attended school in Woods County and worked as an auto mechanic at Alva Ford Garage. He entered the Army Air Corps Aug. 18, 1942, serving in the United States, the Phillipines and Japan after their surrender with the 5th Air Force.

He married Alta Pat Lierman April 7, 1945, in Enid. They made their home west of Alva where they farmed and ranched. They moved to Alva in 1974, continuing to farm until retiring in 1983. He attended First Baptist Church, Alva.

Surviving are his wife, Pat of the home; one son, Edward Lyon of Enid; one brother, Wayde Lyon of Alva; two sisters, Frances Brown and Fay Vincent of Alva; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to First Baptist Church.
