JEWEL ELAINE BULLARD DAVISON LEDOU, 'THE 'MAYOR'
Jewel was born on March 12, 1936, in Fairview, Oklahoma, to Charles Ambrose Bullard and Sarah Olive (Bays) Bullard, Jewel graduated from the Dacoma School System.
While in high school she was involved in singing, plays, pep club and Glee Club and was Miss Dacoma. After graduation she attended NWOSU.
Jewel was joined in marriage to Dean Davison on September 19, 1956. To their union three girls were born, Deana Dian Broekhuizen, Julie Ann Helm and Shelley Machell Reed. On August 4, 1988, she was married to Kenneth LeDou.
Jewel worked for Southwestern Bell as a telephone switchboard operator. She was best known for dispatching for the Alva Police Department, Fire Department and EMS, serving as chief dispatcher for many years. Jewel joined the Lord July 12, 2020, at the age of 84 years and 4 months.
Jewel is preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, three sisters and her Grandson Elliot Burton.
She is survived by her daughters Deana and Geert Broehhuizen (Grove, Oklahoma), Julie Helm and significant other John Shepherd (Alva), and Shelley and Mark Reed (Dacoma); her Bonus children Ken LeDou (Yvonne) and Mark LeDou (Martha); her grandchildren DesiRae Wiersig, Erica and Bobby Kraft, Mindy and James Eslinger, Audra and Chris Qualls, Valerie and Adam Schmidt, and Sam Ledou; great-grandchildren Gretchen and Reichen Kraft, and Cole, Hagan and Griffen Wiersig; Ian Eslinger, Avery Qualls, Samara and Ari Schmidt; many other relatives and friends.
Family visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2020, at the Alva Wesleyan Church with Rev. Paul Kirk, officiating. Private burial will follow at Alva Municipal Cemetery.
