The funeral for Max Eugene Joachims, 78, of Alva will be 2 p.m. Friday at Otterbein United Methodist Church. Rev. Woody Hamon will officiate. Burial will follow in Alva Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel.
He was born June 4, 1927, in Dacoma to Guy and Mary Frances Pigg Joachims and died Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at Oklahoma Heart Hospital, Oklahoma City.
He attended Dacoma schools and joined the Navy during World War II.
He married Doris Dike Oct. 2, 1946, at E.U.B. Church Parsonage. They made their home in Alva. He worked paving Maple Street and then at Munson Hatchery. He later became a partner in ownership of the packing plant. He retired in 1999.
Surviving are his wife, Doris of the home; one daughter, Janice Sheffield of La Habra, Calif.; two sons, Gary of Edmond, and Brian of Norman; one sister, Lila Bay of Decatur, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church.

ENID, Okla. — Memorial service for Doris Joachims will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at Quail Ridge Assisted Living, Oklahoma City.
A private family burial will be in Alva Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.
Doris was born June 5, 1927, in Waynoka, Okla., and died Friday, March 15, 2013, in Oklahoma City.
Doris married Max Joachims Oct. 2, 1946.
Preceded by husband, Max, and three siblings.
Surviving are Brian Joachims, Norman, Okla., Janice Sheffield, Fullerton, Calif., Gary Joachims, Edmond, Okla., Billie Miles, Denver, Colo., Brent, Bradley, Craig, Julie, Sandra, Christine and David, Andrew, Timothy, Jennifer, CJ, Anthony, Sawyer and Enrique.
